GAILEN’S BLAST TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE FOR LINCOLN
FARGO, N.D. — Blake Gailen launched a two-run homer in the ninth but it wasn’t enough as the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks held on for a 6-4 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs in front of 3,935 fans at Newman Outdoor Field Friday night.
Lincoln scored all four of its runs in the final two innings but were unable to score after mounting serious threats in the prior two frames. Gailen was thrown out at the plate by Redhawks left fielder Jason James to end the sixth inning and the ‘Dogs were held without a run after loading the bases with one out in the top of the seventh.
The Redhawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead through five innings, scoring one in the first, two in the third and one in the fifth on a solo home run by James.
