REDHAWKS STRIKE FOR SIX IN FOURTH TO EVEN SERIES
FARGO, North Dakota — The Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks scored six runs in the fourth inning and went on to beat the Saltdogs 15-8 in front of 3,863 fans at Newman Outdoor Field Wednesday night.
Lincoln was leading 5-4 before the 10-batter, six-run frame posted by the Redhawks, highlighted by a three-run, opposite field homer by Zach Penprase.
The ‘Dogs climbed back to within two on a Curt Smith two-run single in the fifth but Fargo-Moorhead then pulled away by scoring five of the next six runs.
Zach Ward pitched five innings, allowing six earned on four hits while walking five to pick up the win. Alex Maestri lasted 3 1/3 innings, giving up seven earned on six hits to suffer the loss.
Smith went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in his return to the lineup. Smith started at third base for just the second time since June 22 due to a groin injury.
Vance Albitz went 3-for-4 with two runs. Phil Hawke went 2-for-2 with three walks and two RBI. Blake Gailen also drew three walks.
The Saltdogs were only outhit 13-12 but stranded 12 runners on base, compared to five left on by the Redhawks.
