ALESSANDRO MAESTRI CELEBRATES FIRST WIN IN NIPPON PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL
Italian right-hander Alessandro Maestri celebrated his first win in Nippon Professional Baseball on Sunday.
Starting for the ORIX Buffaloes the Rimini native allowed just four hits, one run and a walk in 6 1/3 innings, striking out five.
His team beat the Chiba Lotte Marines by a score of 5-1 in front of a crowd of 26,095. It was an impressive debut for the 27-year-old. He had started the season with an independent league team and was signed by the Buffaloes a couple of weeks ago.
The pro team of the Pacific League put him into a farm team for some seasoning and called him up to NPB last week.
